Lots of positives
August 28, 2010- The Gatineau Olympiques ended their pre-season games at home last night when receiving the Drummondville’s Voltigeurs.
Even with some acrobatic saves from Gabriel Carignan the Voltigeurs were able to take the lead in the first period when Mitchell Robillard scored.
The home team played with intensity and emotion and were rewarded when they scored nothing less then 3 goals in the second period. Goals from Jean-Gabriel Pageau (Morneau & Deslauriers), Samuel Morneau (Weckworth & Laporte) and Philippe Halley with a penalty shot allowed Benoit Groulx’s team to take the lead 3-2 at the end of the second.
Nicolas Deslauriers (Morneau & Ouellet) scored at the beginning of the third period but it wasn’t enough to stop the Voltigeurs who scored 3 goals back to back (Marc-Olivier Vachon, Ondrej Palat & Maxime Villemaire). The Gatineau Olympiques deserved a better ending since they played a pretty decent game overall.
With all the altercations that took place after the whistles during the game one fight erupted in the last minutes of the game between Olivier Croteau and Jonathan Oligny that we could describe as a men’s fight!
Gabriel Carignan stopped 23 shots and helped his team with a few important saves.
The Outaouais team will play their next two pre-season games on the road, Sunday they will be in Drummondville and on Thursday September 2 at 7h30 they will be in Shawinigan at the Bionnest Center.
